I once won the elementary school spelling bee by correctly spelling parfait. Decades later, I’m still obsessed with words.
I work across the full spectrum of brand language, the verbal side of branding, with naming as my forte. I love the challenge of building a brand’s toolbox for verbal expression — turning strategic scaffolding into words, phrases, and stories that stick.
In a past life, I was the editor-in-chief of Yummy, a food magazine for home cooks. Through the discipline and craft of editorial publishing, I learned how to shape interesting stories, to cut fluff and sharpen sentences, to think about who’s reading and why they should care, to make language and design work hand in hand. I bring the same editorial eye and thoughtful, creative rigor to my work as a namer and brand writer.
I was born and raised in Manila, in a trilingual Chinese-Filipino household that sparked an early interest in languages. Though I’ve lived in Fukuoka, Shanghai, and Singapore, I’m currently based in New York City, where I earned my Master’s degree in Branding from the School of Visual Arts. When I’m not coming up with names or writing, you can find me eating my way through the city or watching a Broadway show.
